Speed-Work Session 3

Tonight is the 3rd and final session of Speed-work starting 6pm from the Fleet Feet store. The last session is a Lactate Threshold (LT) routine of 4-mile continuous run in 1/2 mile intervals starting with first interval 30-60s faster than goal marathon pace (GMP), then following it with 1/2 mile recovery interval at goal marathon pace. It can be effective training to shift LT curve to the right and it also has the added benefit of making your GMP feel easier to run.

Of the 3 speed-work routines you ran, this is the one I will suggest you continue to do once per week until the last week before the marathon. You can try to build the routine to 5 and 6 miles of continuous running, and increase the interval distance to 1-mile, if feeling good.
